Tuesday morning, September 11, 2012. While waking up to our new 6 month old "$30 Craig's List" puppy pooping in our bedroom at approximately 5am, I decided to take a pregnancy test with out mentioning it to my husband. Due to the fact, that at that moment I realized I was about 10 days late & should have started my period the weekend before. I must have forgot since it was Labor day weekend... which meant we were out of town partying. Oh & not to mention poor guy was too busy cleaning up dog poop!
What a date to pick to take a pregnancy test... In reality I wish I would have known it was September 11th. That way my husband could look back & actually think of some good that came that day. Not just all the heart break that day brings to our Country & the main reason to why he decided to join the military in 2006.
So there you have it after just one test it said pregnant right away, didn't even have to wait the full two minutes. I almost shit myself. I of course being the coward that I am, sat in the bathroom brushing my teeth trying to take it all in for another two minutes. I had all kinds of emotions running through me for those long two minutes. I had butterflies in my stomach, I was scared, I was excited, I was confused!! Was this really happening??
I finally came out of the bathroom trying to think of a good way to tell Bryan. Then the poor guy starts taking to me about not being able to sleep thanks to the dog's pooping in our room! Then it was like word vomit, it just came out---"well you're not going to be able to sleep for a while, because I'm pregnant." Bryan's jaw dropped & followed with a huge smile & some hugs & kisses!
I scheduled our initial appointment with my OB for the following week. I was terrified, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if the little babe was going to be OK in there. We had a miscarriage in 2011, right after we got married. Like this time, we were not trying to get pregnant it just happened & at our first ultrasound at 12 weeks, which for some strange reason is how the military likes to do it, we found out the baby didn't make it past 9 weeks.
So of course my blood pressure was sky rocketing the day of our visit. Since we had a miscarriage in the past they did a early ultrasound that day to see how far along we were & how everything was going...
I was 6 weeks along & we heard the heart beat-- which made OUR hearts skip a beat!
We were both very excited & happy to say the least.
